| Julie’s is a reasonably priced, unpretentious place with clientele to match. Originally a builders yard, the 100-year-old building is tucked away down an elegant street in Holland Park.
Julie’s is named after interior designer Julie Hodgess, who conceived both Julie’s Restaurant and Julie’s Bar in 1969. Owners Tim and Cathy Herring have continued to consult her ever since. Group Managing Partner Johnny Ekperigin first joined the Herrings in 1974 and has continued to be Managing Partner of Julie’s and The Portobello Hotel.
Julie’s is a honeycomb of small eating areas and alcoves, each in a different style. Indeed guests can match their mood to the décor. The Champagne bar, in cream and green with intricate Islamic designs, contrasts with medieval private banqueting room. People can sink into golden velvet sofas, flanked by rich Indian carvings and stained glass windows. |
